Jalapeño Popper Skewers with Cilantro-Lime

Ingredients (Skewers):

  • 1 10-ounce package TROPICAL Queso de Freir
  • 4 large jalepeno peppers
  • 8 bacon slices
  • Vegetable oil for Frying

Ingredients (Cilantro-Lime Crema):

  • ½ cup TROPICAL Crema Centroamericana
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chopped cilantro
  • 2 teaspoons lime juice

Preparation:

Cut cheese into 1-inch chunks. Cut jalepenos crosswise into ½-inch-thick slices. Cut each bacon slice in half. On 6-inch-long wooden skewers, thread a piece of bacon with a cheese cube, jalepeno slice and a cheese cube, threading the bacon in between each piece. Repeat with remaining ingredients.

Prepare Cilantro-Lime Crema: In small bowl, stir Crema, cilantro and lime juice. Set aside.

In saucepan heat 2 inches oil over medium-high heat. Fry skewers, a few at a time until cheese is golden brown. With slotted spoon, remove to paper towels to drain. Repeat with remaining skewers.

To serve, arrange skewers and bowl of Cilantro-Lime Crema on platter. Makes 6 appetizer servings.
