What is a Honduran Baleada?

Honduran baleadas are a traditional Honduran food that is as simple as it is delicious. Most likely, you have the ingredients in the fridge so that you can make them at any time… like for dinner tonight.

Baleadas are sold in the streets of Honduras; they are prevalent in the north of the country, such as La Ceiba, where Catrachos (the colloquial way to call people from Honduras) can enjoy them with fresh handmade flour tortillas.

Types of Baleada

The simplest version has beans, cheese, and cream, inside a warm wheat tortilla folded in half. But there are various combinations, like eggs, different types of meat, avocado, encurtido, among other things. You can experiment at home to add your own twist.

The Tropical Baleada

In this baleadas recipe, we use Tropical Flour Tortillas, refried beans, your favorite Tropical Chorizos, red onion, Tropical Queso Fresco Centroamericano, and Tropical Crema Hondureña.
