This fun Halloween recipe is perfect for kids. Hot dogs with cheese, wrapped in buttery crescent dough strips and decorated with candy eyes. Tropical Queso de Papa slices will deliciously melt to complement the hot dog and the crispy dough. Although spooky, these cheesy mummy dogs surely won’t scare away kids. Serve them with ketchup “blood” for dipping and let the spooky snacking begin!
Ingredients
- Pre-made crescent roll dough
- 10 hot dogs
- 10 slices of Queso de Papa
- Cooking spray
- Candy eyes
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Unroll the crescent roll dough (pressing seams together to close any perforated seals.) Once rolled out, the dough should measure about ¼ inch in thickness.
- Using a knife or pizza cutter, cut the dough into 4 rectangles. Then slice each rectangle vertically into 10 thin strips measuring approximately ¼ inch wide.
- Place a slice of Queso de Papa under a hot dog. Then begin wrapping the hot dog and cheese with the dough strips, leaving room near the top for the mummy face. Use 4 dough strips per cheese-wrapped hot dog.
- Place wrapped hot dogs (cheese side down) on a baking sheet and spray dough lightly with cooking spray. Bake 13 to 17 minutes or until dough is light golden brown.
- Remove from heat and cool for 5 minutes. Just before serving, add candy eyes.
